Where is the best place to spend Valentine’s Day this year? Verona, of course, the city that has been awarded World Heritage Site status by UNESCO. Everybody knows that Shakespeare set his tragedy ‘Romeo and Juliet’ there. That’s why they decided to organise Verona in love, a series of events held in the city of love. Following the playwright’s 400th death anniversary this year’s edition is dedicated to Shakespeare and his plays. Here some highlights taking place between 11 and 14 February 2016:
Love hunting
The 4th edition of the treasure hunt game will take place through the streets of the city centre. You can take part in this funny competition with you partner, your friends or your family on Saturday 13rd and discover the treasures of Verona.
Giulietta per un giorno (Giulietta for one day)
Every year thousands of letters get to Verona from all around the world. During Verona in Love Giulietta’s club opens the doors of the Love Letters Museum so you can read the most romantic letters addressed to Juliet and get some inspiration. The most touching messages will be awarded during a ceremony that will be held at the Capuleti’s house on Saturday 13rd.
Torre dei Lamberti in LoveÂ
Torre dei Lamberti (Lamberti’s tower) will be light up in red and you will have have a fantastic view of the city from the top of the building. Aperintorre (aperitivo at the tower) will take place on 12th, 13rd and 14th.
Giulietta&Romeo half marathon
They say you need the heart to run. That’s the key element to run Giulietta&Romeo half marathon. The Arena is going to be the special finish line of this 21 km run. Registration closes on 5th February.

You will also have the chance to get a customised parchment with your name and your partner’s just paying 3 euros for charity.
