The Lady Gaga of opera, as Placido Domingo nicknamed her, speaks openly ahead of her performance in ‘Pagliacci’ by Leoncavallo at the Royal Opera House. Carmen Giannattasio is petite, blonde, witty and full of life. She looks like the girl next door, but when she starts singing her voice opens a whole world in front of you.
We met her before her performance, and we talked about how Italy, where opera was born, is betraying its own patrimony.
