You missed Italian cinema in London this summer, didn’t you? Good news, CinemaItaliaUK is back after the summer break to help you face autumn rain and cold evenings.

First screening will be on 8 September at Regent Street Cinema. The fun comedy Assolo (2016), directed by Laura Morante, will open the new season of CinemaItaliaUK.

As the actress and director said during an interview, this film is a kind of exhortation for a new women revolution. ‘Life does not stop when men are not interested in us anymore’, told Morante.

Flavia (Laura Morante), a 50-year-old woman, is now single again after a long time. She tries to leave behind two failed marriages and a complicated relationship with a married man, but it’s not easy. In fact, she suffers from a pathological lack of confidence which causes her to constantly depend on people around her.

A wise and seraphic psychoanalyst will help Flavia regaining her self-confidence, tackling several driving tests and ackward approaches to auto-eroticism.

The cast of Assolo, Morante’s second film as director, also includes Carolina Crescentini, Massimo Giallini and Angela Finocchiaro.
