‘Babylon Sisters’, the world saved by (immigrant) women

The world saved by women. That is, briefly, the synopsis of Babylon Sisters directed by Gigi Roccati, that will be screened on 23rd February 2017, 7.30pm at Regent Street Cinema thanks to Cinema Italia UK.

The film is adapted from the book ‘Amiche per la Pelle‘ (Friends for Life) by Laila Wadia, which was extremely well received in Italy at the time of its publication in 2009.

The movie follows the story of five families of different ethnic origins that move to a crumbling building in Trieste. When they all receive an order of eviction, the men in the family react with rage, while the women take the lead and try to avoid the impending danger of being homeless through the power of dance and music.

The director and script-writer Gigi Roccati will participate to the London screening.
